The Epic Games Store allows you to purchase many excellent games, but that’s about the only feature the store launched with. It worked well enough when there were a limited number of titles on the platform, but it’s a bit overcrowded now to just scroll through a long list of games. Epic’s store has a new look, and there are some other big additions on the horizon.
Now the store has a ‘discovery’ tab, which highlights a major release up top, then gives you a list of new releases, top sellers, free games, upcoming titles, and other similar categories. Popularity and sales categories appear to be ranked, so you can use that data to fuel any number of internet arguments. There’s also a more traditional ‘browse’ tab, which lets you filter genres and features, or look at the whole catalogue. (187 games so far, including upcoming titles.)
The new store is already live, but there are a few other new features on the close horizon. A Steam-style wishlist is on the way, and the library is getting an improved grid view. Game detail pages will soon feature critic reviews in partnership with OpenCritic.
