Destiny 2 is going to have a new home on PC for the launch of Shadowkeep and the free-to-play rebranding of the base game as New Light, and all the content that’s build up over the years is going to make for a substantial download. Luckily, Bungie is giving players a similarly substantial head start on the install ahead of the Shadowkeep release date.

Pre-loads for Destiny 2 are now live on Steam – and if you haven’t checked the version of the game files in a while, you should know that the download is up to a whopping 79.1GB. The pre-load covers everything, so whether you plan to buy Shadowkeep or just dip your toe into the new free-to-play launch, you’re covered.

You won’t actually be able to play Destiny 2 on Steam until October 1, so is still the game’s home for the next week – just make sure you’ve got your cross-save business handled, as Destiny 2 will be removed from the Blizzard launcher following a 24 hour maintenance period starting on September 30.
