Pokémon HOME will finally be able to store and trade Pokémon from the latest games.
What you need to know
- Pokémon HOME is a trading and storage service offered on Nintendo Switch and phones.
- Last week we learned that an upcoming 2.0.0 update would make it compatible with Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends: Arceus.
- We now know that the 2.0.0 update will release on May 18.
Pokémon HOME has been a large part of the Nintendo Switch and Pokémon GO experience since it launched, allowing players to store Pokémon caught in various games and even trade them with other players within the service. Last week, we learned that the service was finally going to be getting a 2.0.0 update that would make it compatible with Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends: Arceus.
Now we know that the date of this update will be May 18, thanks to serebii.net. However, some users might not be able to access the updated service until 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET on May 19 due to staggered logins that are planned to help “ease server load”.
“It has been confirmed that Pokémon HOME is to undergo maintenance tomorrow May 18th from 00:00 UTC to 06:00 UTC on May 18th. This maintenance coincides with the release of Version 2.0 on Switch and Mobile which includes connectivity and features for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends Arceus. It will run with staggered logins to ease server load until 01:00 UTC on May 19th 2022”
Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl released last November while Legends: Arceus released at the end of January. So players have been waiting a long time for both games to work with HOME.
