The full Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers patch notes are now available, detailing every little change coming to the game alongside the new expansion. Most of the big stuff will be familiar if you’ve been paying attention heading into the Shadowbringers release date, but there are some notable new details – yet not every change is a positive one.

Notably, the unlimited frame rate option is being replaced with a 90fps maximum setting. While you’ll still have frame rates over 60fps, you’re not going to be able to take full advantage of your 144hz monitor, and this change will apply to all versions of the game. Right now, it’s unclear whether this is a form of VSync or a cap internal to the game – thus, we don’t know if you’ll be able to bypass the restriction using your GPU control panel.

The developers haven’t detailed why this change is happening, but there’s some speculation among players that it’s an effort to curb out-of-bounds exploits where players take advantage of high frame rates to bypass walls and sequence break.
