The world’s most powerful operational rocket takes flight.
SpaceX held its first Falcon Heavy test flight today, and it was a great success.
After a successful liftoff from the pad, Falcon Heavy had successful booster separation as it climbed into space. The boosters experienced a successful landing, resulting in an outstanding test flight for SpaceX. You can watch footage of the launch right here.
The test flight took place at 3:45pm ET in Florida at Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. It was originally set to commence earlier today, but was delayed because of high-altitude wind conditions.
Today’s Falcon Heavy test flight is a historic achievement, serving as the launch of the world’s most powerful operational rocket. According to SpaceX’s official website, Falcon Heavy can lift into orbit nearly 141,000 pounds, and it’s first stage is comprised of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores.
